Easter was weird. Mother’s Day is gearing up to be weird. The world is weird. I’m weird. I guess it all fits. Haha. But just because Mother’s Day is going to be weird, doesn’t mean you can slack off. Make this Mother’s Day extra special because you have the time, it would do the world some good if everybody went the extra mile right now and she’s your mother – you know, the woman who gave you life.
GOURMET (OR FUN!) FOOD
I am one of those people that will buy weird flavors of normal food just because it’s different – carrot cake Oreos (one of my favorites!), cotton candy flavored energy drinks, birthday cake anything. I am also one of those people who likes to buy fun food – Cadbury drinking chocolate, gourmet jams, unicorn poop marshmallows. The basics. 😉 Any woman I know would be beyond thrilled to receive a few of her favorite treats! My mothers’ day must haves? Godiva Patisserie Dessert Truffles and Republic of Tea’s Coconut Cocoa Herb Tea (the BEST tea ever!).
LUXURY CLEANING GADGETS
Okay, it might get you sent to time out if you get your mom cleaning products, so don’t blame this one on me if she hates it! No, I’m not saying I’d enjoy a nice bottle of the house blue (aka Windex), but I would LOVE to be surprised with a nice robotic vacuum or ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. Maybe I’m weird, maybe I’m doing myself a solid.
I LOVE a good mom shirt. Last year, I got my own mom this shirt – I think us kids liked it more than she did though! I love these shirts so much that I would even buy them for myself, Mothers’ day or not. “Good moms say bad words” shirt, “ringmaster of the shit show” shirt and my personal favorite, “i’m not like a regular mom, i’m a cool mom” shirt.
I don’t know about other moms, but when I get a gift card to a favorite store I feel like that Little Caesar’s commercial. “There’s no rules!” Haha. But in all seriousness, it can sometimes be hard for moms to spend money on themselves even for something small and gift cards (namely ones to stores she absolutely CANNOT spend it on the kids) are a great way to let her splurge a little on herself. She deserves it!
Considering almost the entire world is under lock down or stay at home orders, we’re all missing going out and doing things. Forgo all the physical gifts and give the gift of memories – treat Mom to a tour of something that interests her (I totally luck out with this one because my mom and I share similar interests – we did an OBX ghost tour and asylum tour together with our families and we all had a blast!), a special night out or even a getaway! Even if it’s a coupon for a promised experience later this year or next, she’ll have something fun to look forward to to keep her going in quarantine.
I’d love to hear your mothers’ day gift ideas!
